October Customer Spotlight – Filip De Vis
Welcome to our twenty-eighth Bergen County Camera Customer Spotlight. This monthly posting features a customer who’s made an impression on us. They might have grown in their understanding of photography, gained a mastery of the craft and / or have become a strong advocate of our way of doing business in the world of photography. During the next month you will see this customer’s images displayed on our digital signs in store, in our emails, blog posts and social media.
Filip De Vis is our customer spotlight for the month of October. We hope you both enjoy and are inspired by this new addition to In Focus and look forward to your comments and suggestions. Below you will find a word from Filip, followed by some of his images in the gallery below.
Spotted Lanternfly – Be on the Lookout
The Spotted Lanternfly is a non-native insect that poses a threat to nearly 70 native trees, crops and plants. New Jersey Department of Agriculture has a program called “Join the Battle, Beat the Bug! — Stomp it Out!”
Since the Spotted Lanternfly is not know to everyone yet, it is important to become familiar. The photo below can innocently be a cool bug on a sunflower. Once you learn the facts, you will instantly take the appropriate action. As photographers, many of us our out in the field giving us the opportunity to help by stomping, reporting and checking before leaving an area. Spotted Lanternfly are great hitchhikers so check your camera bags and vehicles before leaving an area.
The State of New Jersey Department of Agriculture has full microsite on the Spotted Lanternfly. This page is great for learning, identifying, reporting in areas of concern and instructions about what do do when you see one. You don’t need to report in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Salem, Somerset, or Warren counties as they are already known as a quarantine county. This is just one way as photographers we can help protect our local environment.
To report directly to the New Jersey Department of Agriculture use this form. It is not necessary to file a report in Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Salem, Somerset, or Warren counties.

Join Patty Gregitis and Ken Hubbard from Tamron, for a fun filled photography meet up at beautiful Brook Hollow Winery. We will be at Brook Hollow from 1:00 – 5:00pm loaning lenses and answering all your photography questions as you stroll through the lush vineyards capturing images of the fully ripened grapes. First 20 individuals to borrow a lens will receive a wine tasting on us! Must be registered on meet-up to qualify and 21 years of age for wine tastings.

About Ken Hubbard: Ken Hubbard is the Field Services Manager for Tamron. He is responsible for the company’s events, including Tamron’s popular consumer workshop series. Ken has had nationwide gallery showings of his portrait and landscape photography and teaches enthusiasts how to take better photos at numerous events. Ken’s extensive background in the field of photography is unique and diverse. He has traveled extensively throughout the US and the result is a consistent output of breathtaking photographs that continually challenge the boundaries of the genre.

In-person – Virtual/Online – Delivery operations – Curbside Options
Current Updates:
- We are open for both in-store shopping and curbside pickup
- In-store shopping is available Monday – Saturday 10am – 5pm
- Now offering passport photos again – please call for appointments for groups or families, walk-ins available for individual passport photos – please arrive before 4:30 pm
- All business services resume
- Merv 16 Filtration on 3 HVAC air Handlers
- EME-H Halo In-Duct Air Purifier on 4 HVAC air Handlers
- In store classes will resume soon as the state continues toward a full re-opening.
Current Safety Measures:
- Masks are required for all employees working on sales floor
- For customers, please mask up if unvaccinated or want peace of mind
- Plexi-glass has been installed to provide physical barriers
- Social distancing is encouraged at all times
- Frequent hand washing practices (before and after interactions with customers)
- Frequent disinfecting will occur storewide
- Kiosk remain self-service with 6′ distancing
